Origin
Uppugunduru.
Provenance
Discovered at an unknown date on a ruined Stūpa site, and left in situ. By 21 January 1958, the inscribed part of the pillar inscription had been broken away from its support and was no longer to be found ( Chhabra 1959-60b: 189 ).

    • (1) sidhaṁ – sidhaṁ om BCCh . Chhabra’s reading is criticized (p. 191, n. 5) by D.C. Sircar, the editor of the Epigraphia Indica volume in question, who interprets it as a variant of one found in Kuṣāṇa inscriptions, and refers to Sircar 1965: 150, n. 3 .
    • (2) °ikhākuṇaṁ °ikhākunaṁ BCCh .
    • (3) gim[ha]- The form of the akshara meant to be mha is not regular ( Chhabra 1959-60b: 191 ). Cf. EIAD 52, l. 3.
    • (4) natuke[na] vaira- The <na> seems ambiguous, perhaps because the engraver started to write the <v> of the following syllable.
    • (4) saghilena sa()ghilena BCCh .
    • (5) bhagini(ya) bhagini- BCCh . Sircar (p. 191, n. 5) suggests restoring bhagini(naṁ) .
    • (6) samudaṁnika[sa] samudaṁnikāya BCCh .
    • (7) caṁd[a] ? ? ? reads two anusvāras in the lacuna. Restore caṁdasaṁmaṁna-.
    • (8) patu- It is tempting to restore this word to p⟨i⟩tu(chā) .
    • (10) .i .i ? .i.i[ya] BCCh .
    • (11) Chhabra 1959-60b ignored the trace of an <i> vowel on what must have been an 11th line.

    • (4) vaira- Is this for vajira : vajra? The same name seems to figure in EIAD 43.
