- Erected originally at findspot.
- Provenance
- Discovered at Alluru in 1924. Subsequently confounded with a distinct pillar kept at Vijayawada Museum (our EIAD 201) in Sankaranarayanan 1977b . As pointed out by von Hinüber, the discovery of a pillar at Takkellapadu reported in sources from the 1990s onward was actually a rediscovery of the Alluru pillar. He also notes that “[i]t seems to be completely forgotten that this important inscription was published with a good photo already in the Annual Report of the Archaeological Survey of Indian in 1925/6 in an excellent state of preservation” ( von Hinüber 2012b: 89 ). Identified at Amaravathi Museum and Interpretation Centre (acc. no. AM-28) in February 2016.

Of …ḍala five hundred cows, four-poled (caturyaṣṭi) bullock … carts, as servants (preṣyarūpa) twenty-four female and male slaves, four jar-shaped cauldrons (kumbhikaṭāha), two iron cauldrons, four brass vessels (bhājana), a eddy-shaped (? abhikāra) bowl and “Greek” lamps, a tank behind the Antaragiri, and one thousand old Kāhāpanas as permanent endowment. This is the Great Talavara’s giving away as pious gift. In Atapa, at the northern side, fifty-two (?) nivartanas. This (of the Great Talavara) together with his wife, sons, and grand-sons. To the nikāya of the noble Puvvaseliyas.
